Hi, I’m Julia, a registered counsellor (BACP), CBT Practitioner and coach.
I’m passionate about supporting others to bring positive and importantly, sustainable change in their lives.
As a coach and experienced trainer, I have worked for a number of organisations including MIND delivering training on developing resilience skills and understanding mental health in the workplace. I have also worked as a Wellbeing Advisor for the East of England Ambulance Trust.
I studied counselling at quite a young age and practised for a couple of years before turning to coaching. I have since had a successful career & personal development coaching business for the past 16 years (www.juliasinclair-brown.com).
However, over recent years, after experiencing significant bereavement in my own family life, I found healing through writing and created an online self-help course for navigating the painful journey of grief. This instigated my new-found passion to work once again as a counsellor.
Having experienced therapy as a client myself, I know it can feel challenging to start counselling but I found it to be hugely beneficial in helping me to process my loss and, in turn, it has made me a more understanding and empathic counsellor.
My approach to counselling is brief-focused whilst remaining person-centred but I am always learning and developing and may bring in a range of other tools and techniques that I feel could benefit you.
I encourage establishing counselling goals from the start and research has shown how beneficial it can be to achieving successful outcomes in therapy. But I also appreciate that not everybody wants to focus their counselling sessions that way, so I am happy to be led by you.
…. Outside of work, I enjoy different ways of exercising including bootcamp, yoga and learning salsa dancing. More recently, I’ve been very inspired by “The Great Pottery Throw Down” and taken up pottery classes which is a fabulous meditation with clay … until it goes wrong!
I live in St Neots with my husband, two cats and son who comes to stay at weekends and love that we are so close to the parks in this area.
